H.E. President Kiir inaugurates New PPC Head Office

Juba, Monday (July 8, 2024) – On Monday, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit inaugurated the Political Parties Council headquarters in Juba, marking a crucial moment in the provision of civic space for the parties to conduct their activities in the country.

Kiir noted that this is a big step in the history of the country’s multiparty system, and urged South Sudanese to embrace peaceful coexistence in order to achieve prosperity for all. According to Vice President for Service Cluster Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, the historic occasion represents a positive step towards democracy realization. “The opening of this complex marks the start of a crucial process to establish a democratic society in South Sudan,” said Akol Zachayo, Chairperson of the Political Parties Council.

The Political Parties Council is mandated to register and/or deregister, regulate and monitor activities of political parties under Section 21 of the Political Parties Act, 2012 as (amended) 2022
