Full Registration Checklist

Section 7 of the Political Parties Act, 2012(Amended 2022)

  1. The Political Party shall provide a List of officials of the party authorised to sign on all party documents on behalf of the party.
  1. An application for a provisional registration shall be accompanied by the following DOCUMENTS:
    • A list of the names, addresses and identification particulars of all its members;
    • Information on the location of its head office within South Sudan and the address to which communications can be sent.
    • Information on the location and addresses of the branch offices of the political party (( Including the Lease Agreements).
    • Undertaking to be bound by the Constitution and the Act.( signed by authorised official of the party).

  1. The Political Party shall provide a List of Five (500) Hundred  eligible members from at least two-thirds of the states and administrative areas accompanied by:
    1. A duly sworn Affidavit affirming that no member of the party is a member of any other political party already registered with the Council and that members were recruited using established procedures.
    2. Proof that members reflect regional and ethnic diversity, gender balance and representation of special interest groups.
     
  2. The Political Party shall provide a list of members of the governing body and proof accompanied by prof that:
    1. The Body reflects regional, ethnic diversity, gender balance and representation of special interest groups.
    2. The Body has at least one member from each state.
    3. The Members meet the ethical requirements as governed by the Constitution, the Act and any other laws.

TO ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ALL BODIES/PERSONS APPLYING FOR REGISTRATION AS A POLITICAL PARTY SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING FORMS WHICH SHALL COMPLETED CORRECTLY AND CLEAR ANSWERS GIVEN AGAINST EACH REQUIREMENTS AND FURNISHED TOGETHER WITH THE APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTS ABOVE REQUIRED

NOTE:

  • The Council shall, within sixty (60) days of an application issue a certificate of full registration to a provisionally registered political party which has fulfilled the conditions of full registration.
  • A person who is not a citizen of South Sudan shall not be appointed to any office in a political party in South Sudan.
  • A political party fully registered shall be entitled to:
    • Hold and address public meetings in any area in South Sudan for the purposes of publicizing the political party and recruiting members;
    • Protection and assistance of the state security agencies for the purposes of facilitating peaceful and orderly meetings; and
    • Provision by the state of fair opportunity to present the programmes of the political party.
    • A fully registered political party shall be entitled to field candidates for elections.

The Political Parties Council is mandated to register and/or deregister, regulate and monitor activities of political parties under Section 21 of the Political Parties Act, 2012 as (amended) 2022
